I love building a simple outfit around some shiny shoes. Or some colorful shoes. Or some loud shoes. Or some statement shoes.
This Spring, three pairs have entered my life, home, and closet. And they’re all by designers I know and love, which makes wearing them more fun. Modeling for the homies through the streets of Los Angeles is a real joy, even if no one’s looking.
Shoe 1: Sperry x Colour Plus Company, Buckthorn Brown Yellow
Jordan Page did his thing with these. I’ve found them to be great with a trouser and with a short, which is like 95% of my lower bodied life. Great color too (they come in two additional shades).
Shoe 2: Bode x Nike Astrograbber, Chlorophyll
I wear these a lot. I almost got them in all black, but am thankful that cooler heads prevailed. I don’t own a ton of green, so this a fun injection into the wardrobe. I allowed myself one thing from Bode a year since 2018 — shout out Atlanta’s own Emily Bode Aujla — and these have crashed into my top three from the brand.
Shoe 3: Salehe Bembury x PUMA Velum
I used to religious only perform athletics in all white shoes, certain it made me look faster. In this current status of my life, it’s less about speed and more about how my feet are going to feel two hours after the semi-strenuous activity. I own four pairs of Salehe’s Crocs (and modeled one), so was excited to try out a runner from him. So far they’re my street and hike shoes, and once my Nike cross-trainers poop out in about 30 days, they’ll be my jogging shoes.
